Children’s Services Head Start Teacher-In-Training (Buxton, ME)

37 weeks a year; 40 hours/week Rate $14.01

The purpose of the Head Start Teacher-In-Training position is to provide an opportunity to train an individual that has a passion for working with preschool children but may not have the formal education or training. This person would be willing to be part of a team that creates a positive, welcoming, safe environment, where children and families can thrive.

The ideal candidate: • Is someone who has a passion to make a difference and wants to have a positive impact on the lives of young children and families of York County. • Is someone who is willing to make the commitment to receive formal training and education by completing a CDA.

Job Responsibilities: • The Head Start Teacher is responsible for learning and assisting with planning, implementing, and documenting an effective, comprehensive child development program. • Assumes responsibility of Primary Caregiving, assuring continuity of care. • Supports family strengths and contributes to the development of family/child focused goals and timelines. • Maintaining partnerships with families. • Contributes to ensuring the agency’s full compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and Maine State Licensing Requirements.

Educational Requirements& Experience: • Applicants must be willing to complete a CDA within one year of hire. • Experience in a center or home-based setting specializing in preschool preferred. • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, and communication skills. • The teacher must be an open, warm, caring and accepting person, and willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the families.
