SUMMARY: The Educare model is based on research from early childhood development, education, social work and other related fields. Six fundamental core features comprise the Educare model: strong leadership, community linkages, data utilization, embedded professional development, high-quality teaching practices and intensive family engagement. The School Director, in collaboration with the Educare Springfield Executive Director, is responsible for the overall management of the Educare Springfield School including the effective implementation of relationship-based family-centered services, providing leadership to center staff and complying with state and federal regulations and guidelines. Educare provides a compelling platform to drive change among policy makers and the School Director will advocate and demonstrate what quality early learning looks like for young children. This position ensures the successful implementation of comprehensive services including innovative early childhood education and care for children ages birth to five, family support, health, nutrition, mental health, and social services.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with supervisory and management experience

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory role in an early learning center environment.

  • Program development, management, and evaluation experience.

  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a diverse workplace.

  • Working knowledge of and sensitivity to the challenges and successes faced by many low income, at-risk children and families.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of high-quality early childhood education and family engagement.

  • Knowledgeable of Head Start, Early Head Start program and performance standards and MA Department of Early Education and Care regulations.

  • Ability to lead an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of program management and staff supervision.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner.

Exempt position; 52 weeks per year; Starting Salary: $2,562.98 bi-weekly
