Child & Family Services Director

KVCAP, a social services agency serving Kennebec and Somerset counties for over 50 years, is recruiting for a full-time, innovative leadership position. Based in Waterville, Maine, this position reports to the CEO and is part of KVCAP’s senior management team. This person will be responsible for all aspects of KVCAP’s Child & Family Services Department which serves approximately 530 children and operates 27 high quality early care and education classrooms, including Educare Central Maine and in partnerships with public schools and community early care and education providers. This person also serves in a leadership role through the national Educare Learning Network to improve early education across America. Responsibilities include ensuring ongoing excellence of the Child & Family Services department and system. This includes fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration; progressive vision and leadership to the general operations and growth and development of programmatic initiatives, services and systems, fiscal oversight, grant development and fundraising, communication, and strategic planning. This person is a public advocate for children, families, the early care and education profession and KVCAP. The ability to embed community development of initiatives related to the school readiness of young children, provide leadership to build a birth through grade 3 continuum and cultivation of resources within the business and philanthropic community to develop such resources is a must. The ideal candidate will be committed to KVCAP’s Mission and will build and maintain a unified KVCAP presence in the community. The anticipated start date for this position is December 1, 2018.

Requirements: A Master’s Degree preferred (Bachelor’s Degree required) in early care and education, fiscal management or administration and 10 years progressively responsible experience in a related field, experience in budget and grant development; excellent oral and written communication skills, experience as a senior manager in a multipurpose agency which includes the ability to foster collaborative working relationships with a Board of Directors, advisory committees and parent groups, and in Head Start management; strong interpersonal, organizational and critical thinking skills and proficient computer skills. Ability to pass SBI, DHHS, DMV, Fingerprinting, Fraud and National Sex Offender Registry background checks a must.
